Lets ignore the wood and focus on the fabrics.
Long hair with short sleeves, short hair and velvet. The belt is vintage handmade, accentuates the smallest part of the torso, around the ribcage under the bust. I'm a huge fan of mixing textures and bold colour combos-like ruby red and royal purple.
Silk is classic. The cut of the dress is super long and impractical, but I felt like a princess. Using blush and lip colour helps keep the white dress from making me look like a ghost.
I need this jacket. The high collar, lace details and sewn on keys are bitchin. Think of beat up jackets you own that could be resurrected with details like this. Fit is more important than just about anything else. The keys really caught my eye.
Joseph Magnin, used to own a department store in SF. This ad from the 1960's makes animal prints,dare i say, appealing.
Two things here save this potentially shapeless safari jacket/dress- the waist belt cinching to define her shape, and the feminine heels. Accessories can really save a boring dress. Love the mannequin-esque quality of the image as well.
